![]() L'ANTIETAM - FAMILY CD (slave union) "Out of the cold winters of New Hampshire comes L'Antietam, shattering the myth that prolific bands lack imagation and creativity. This CD compiles all their work to date: 27 tracks, about 5 seconds shy of a full hour of energetic emotional hardcore. Drawing comparisons to bands such as Reversal of Man, Hot Cross, and Ampere, while at the same time owning their own sound and fueling it with raw passion. This includes the songs from the S/T LP, the "We Like it When.." 7", the split 7" with Furnace, and plenty of newly recorded tracks. All mastered by Josh Bonati and sounding better than ever." MP3 (90kr/€9.50)
![]() L´ANTIETAM - WE LIKE IT WHEN THE RED WATER COMES OUT 7" (slave union) "This New Hampshire 4-piece makes one hell of a first impression. Four songs of introspective lyrics screamed and shouted over passionate emotional hardcore that is as urgent as it is raw. They've recently drawn comparisons to reversal of man, circle takes the square, and mid-90's emo." MP3 (35kr/€4)
![]() L´ANTIETAM LP (adagio 830) "this is a real young band from Cester, NH that sent me their demo CD-R almost a year ago and everything sounded so fresh to me. They got power, anger and motivation ... so we decided that we gonna release their full length debut LP on adagio830. After recording their new songs at Will Orchids DEAD AIR studio we got an 8 song debut album that reminds me of Reversal of Men (don´t know why – hahaha) w/ a lot of break downs and melodies (like circle takes the square) that are so typical for all those mid 90ies emo bands w/ out losing any energy and anger. You can call it Screamo if you want – but w/ a lot pf heart in it. limited to 500 copies! And mailorder gets CLEAR wax which is limited to 100 copies. They also got a 7inch out on Slave Union those days!!!" descritipon from adagio 830 (85kr/€9)
![]() L/A/B - PSYCHOACOUSTICS CD (ground fault) "Live improvisations on electronics and mechanics treated with scientifically approved methods; together with composed sections interpolated with sounds of science; illustrates the musical sounds of the human psyche. Along any sensory continuum the adaptation level is the level we are used to. As listeners adapt to greater amounts of L/A/B music, there is a gradual shift along the continuum toward greater pleasure. At one extreme is the beauty that is associated with a sense of lightness and balanced order. It does have a faintly decorative quality to it. At the other extreme we have the much darker form of beauty that we associate with profundity and truth. The distinction between these two extremes of beauty has less to do with the objects under consideration, whether a flower, or a piece of music, than it does with the attitude of the considerer of the object. The dominating mythology of our time is science. Scientific methods applied to the arts can be used to enhance the receptability of the listener. L/A/B helps the listeners to program their own brains and to develop their own sensitivities." (80kr/€8.50)

![]() LA QUIETE/LOUISE CYPHRE CD (electric human project) "An absurd team up of two unreal European bands. Featuring members of RAEIN, Italy's LA QUIETE contribute four tracks of melodic, yet distraught screamy hardcore. Their sound harks back to the early 90's emo scene of bands like MOHINDER, INKWELL, and FRAIL. On the flip side is Germany's LOUISE CYPHRE, who's sound is along the lines of the breakneck insanity that USURP SYNAPSE, JEROMES DREAM, and PAGE NINETY NINE brought to the mix in the late 90's. Crazy change ups, and guitar tones similiar to DAUGHTERS and THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN." (80kr/€8.50)

![]() LANDMINE MARATHON - WOUNDED CD (level plane) "Formed in late 2004 in the sun scorched desert of Arizona, the five members of LANDMINE MARATHON play thrashy grindcore that recalls the early days of Earache Records. Their first full length record WOUNDED combines ultra heavy riff loaded guitars and punishing rhythms that alternate between maniacal blur and choke the life out of you slowness, all crowned by Grace's gender blurring vocal onslaught. Fans of BOLT THROWER, TERRORIZER, DAUGHTERS, ED GEIN and ASSUCK will soon be suffering from a case of headbanger's neck. ![]() LHD - CURTAINS CD (troniks) "The one sheet for LHD says they are a 'double flme-thrower unit from Los Angeles'. I don't know how they get the comparison to a flamethrower other than the fact that they aurally destroy your unsuspecting ass. Five songs of some of the harshest noise imaginable thanks to Phil Blankenship of The Cherry Point and John Wiese of Bastard Noise. As much as I love noise, I find it hard to review. Jeff says it just sounds like birds chirping, but he doesn't know anything. Get your grubby little hands on this while you can." (heartattack review) (70kr/€7.50) MP3
![]() LIFE AT THESE SPEEDS - TO YOUR HEALTH CD (level plane) "Life At These Speeds explode with hope. Their songs are frantic, careening slashes of resistance against the tumult and panic of this world. There's desperation in their voices, as if this were a final act of accusation against power; but at the same time a soaring, chiming, sandpaper beauty promises that there's more to life than damnation. The intertwined guitars leap and cut at each other; the stuttering drums and their embracing rhythms; the solid, binding bass notes; the passionate vocals - but that's not what makes it. It's a deeper thing, a shared heart and an unabashed love of creation that makes "To Your Health" a record that will save lives." MP3 (90kr/€9.50)
![]() LIFE AT THESE SPEEDS CD (level plane) "Life At These Speeds debut nearly forty minutes of their infectiously catchy and urgent hardcore rock with this amazing self titled full length. At times heavy and at other times very much melodic, this Portland, Oregon based four piece never ceases to hold your attention. With an ambient and jazzy instrumental track as an interlude between the first and second parts of this journey, Life At These Speeds present an an epic and driving classic. People who are remotely interested in the sounds of Shotmaker, Drive Like Jehu, Rites Of Spring and Twelve Hour Turn will be instant fans of this record. Two new songs have been added to this re-release from split EP's with Sinaloa and End on End respectively." MP3 (90kr/€9.50)
![]() LIFE AT THESE SPEEDS/SCIENCE OF YABRA LP (grey sky) "This is one of GSR's finest releases to date. It makes me so happy that two of my favorite bands are both on one LP. Life At These Speeds bring us 5 new songs. Beautiful, haunting, epic, and diverse are just a few words to describe the amazing new jams from the LATS boys. Science of Yabra give us 3 new cuts of heavy, pounding, and discordant rock and roll. This record commemorates the friendship between the two bands, the labels, and an amazing trip to Europe in the summer of 2005." (95kr/€10)
![]() LIGHT THE FUSE AND RUN/TRANSISTOR TRANSISTOR CD (electric human project) "Virginia's LIGHT THE FUSE AND RUN and New Hampshire's TRANSISTOR TRANSISTOR breathe new life and a taste of fun into a scene that is often heavy handed and forgetful of its youth. LIGHT THE FUSE AND RUN throw at us 4 tracks of their Gravity-cum-Dischord driving aggression. The record starts out with my new all time favorite LTF track. It destroys everything and will be stuck in your head for fucking weeks. If you liked the tracks on the split with Hot Cross, then you will love this. Welcome to a collection of sounds that will have you at work in the pit, shaking your ass as well as your fists. The 4 TRANSISTOR TRANSISTOR tracks on here are some of the darkiest and edgiest Tranny songs yet. They still feature the propulsive rhythm section, driving guitars, and Nat's sultry and sinister vocals. But these tracks offer a look at the dark side of Transistor. With the appearance of some additional instruments and a pretty hot recording....the tracks are a huge step forward from their initial debut 12" ep." (90kr/€9.50)

Listeners face a dense ande descriptive journey with labyrinths of unidentified sounds, gridlike vocal deliveries, drugged drumming and magnificent string playing. Old followers will recognise traces from Logcabin´s excellent previous recordings: The Society LP (2001) and Statistics are static (2003). A Forest breathes fresh air which will sleep under your door and slowly leave you overwhelmed. The artwork on this artiago-packaged record is made by Robin Watkins." (90kr/€9.50)
![]() LOOPOOL - COURTESY RUN RAMPANT LP + CD-R (not not fun) "LA’s king discontent Loopool finally achieved such core-level burn-out at day-to-day California-cation that he uprooted his Sycophanticide mini-empire and bolted for greener/rainier pastures (the Pacific Northwest). That said, Courtesy Run Rampant is the perfect Not Not Fun-eral for our favorite post-noise avante cultural disintegrator. Three bizarrely orchestrated manifestoes ringing with bashed upright piano, harsh drum distortion, and elegiac clarinet lament, often complimented with Herr Loopool’s Leonard Cohen-like dead poeticizing. Recorded during a day-in-the-studio birthday present at The Distillery in Costa Mesa on thick reel-to-reel tape, and effused with focus/purpose. One-sided LPs – with an ornate conspiracy-theorizing art chart etched on the B side – housed in hand-stamped, stenciled, painted jackets, plus a full-page insert AND a bonus full-length CDR of additional music/musings. Limited to 200." (100kr/€10.50)
![]() LOOPOOL CD-R (arbor) "jean-paul garnier does it again. this ever changing artists comes at us with a lagrely vocal oriented album. free rock guitar jams and synth explorations. sewer pipe drones with beutifully placed vocals. this is another album that has been in the works for far too long, but it is finally here for you to hear. every song sounds differents as this urban chamelon of an artist approaches new terrain. some of these songs totally rock(in the rock and roll type of way), some of these songs rock (in the garage punk type of way), and some of these songs rock(in the noise drone type of way). these lyrics are there to make you think. think about your friends and think about the world. the lyrics are collected in a scrawled out sheet which folded up fits like a nice book in the purple clam shell case. the clam shell case is then put in a full color sike-out drawn custom envelope. in a numbered edition of 50 copies." ![]() LOOSERS - BUMBA MEU BOI TAPE (not not fun) "The great unraveling continues. We first heard Loosers’ fried/frayed spool of sound-sprawl last year, via the Ruby Red/Jelle Crama-splattered LP/CDR offering. Immediate Portuguese fever set in. They, however, are a busy crew, dropping albums for Qbico and Our Mouth, touring Europe with Mouthus, generally ruling, etc. So NNF release plans moved slow. Fast forward to today: the CS is HERE, the time is NOW. Named for a semi-metaphorical 18th century Brazilian tale/dance concerning the FUCKED hierarchical relations between slaves and lords at the time, Bumba Meu Boi boils/roils with post-rational uprise, alchemical percussion ritual, and pulse-of-the-people electronic sub-consciousness. Two beautiful sides of fluidly splayed labor-as-magick post-Sunburned collectivist psych action. REAL tapes (a first for NNF) in hand-color-dyed, hand-numbered cardstock J-cards with cult cave-art covers. Limited to 200" (50kr/€5.50)

A place where nuclear radiations colour the sky with green clouds, mutating vegetation suffocates the sun and asphyxiating miasms coming from abandoned toxic wastes endanger life... LUASA RAELON is definitely one of the most interesting realities of US dark ambient/death industrial scene, combining low-rumbling drones with extemporaneous noise bursts to create a pretty personal & recognizable sound. ![]() MAGGOTED CD-R (jyrk) "Aside from Gabe and Liz, I've probably spent as much time with Robert Mayson from Grey Daturas in the last year as I have with anyone. I feel totally honored to have had time with the dude.... I can't think of a better dude to be trapped in a sweaty van with or out exploring odd aussie beach towns... No matter where you're at with the dude, he's always down for whatever trouble needs to happen. So.. when he and I were both camping at the old Huffin House in Oakland, where I was at the end of one tour, and he was at the beginning of his, we decided that we would form a band... Now.. there ARE plans for us to record in the future, I'm not sure if it'll be later this year or in ten years, I don't really care... that's all besides the point.. what does matter is that we slammed our skulls together for just about 30 minutes and dropped this egg out of the cracks... This is the entire recording history of the group thus far. the music is totally dense, repetitive and dark.. I think we were both listening to mirror a lot around then, but I can also hear heaps of early MAIN in there too.. Anyway, I felt great during this sesh and I'm always stoked to listen to this thing.. I hope ya'll are too. edition of 150." (50kr/€5.50)
![]() MAJORITY RULE - EMERGENCY NUMBERS CD (magic bullet) "'emergency numbers' is the second proper full length from washington d.c.'s majority rule and their third release with magic bullet. recorded in snowy isolation in the dead of winter '03 at the outpost (stoughton, ma), this finely crafted cd/lp finds majority rule exceeding all possible expectations of both themselves and the perception of a modern diy hardcore band. where others get 'experimental' over time (or simply follow what's hot at the moment), this band is intent on branding and furthering a unique sound that is distinctly majority rule. and they have succeeded: huge production, goosebump-inducing dynamics, and the balanced dual-vocal attack that fans of the band have grown to adore... a record so groundbreaking that the band has already committed the next 7 months of their lives to touring the world in support! this is the recording that most indie, pseudo-indie, and even a few majors labels tried to wrestle away. yet once again, our beloved trio does washington d.c. proud by upholding the diy ethic that has come to define a city reborn." ![]() MARAH-MAR CD (scenester credentials) "Delicate cello lines gain momentum until they burst apart at the seams, textural noises are pealed away exposing an underlying song, guitars collid in a wide stereo field to cascade and weave together. These are amongst the most apt descriptions of Marah-Mar's self titled debut album, a collection of songs as memorable for their mood and atmosphere as they are for their melodic counterpoints. Elements gleaned from electronic music, instrumental groups such as Dirty Three, Tortoise, Explosions in the Sky, and GSBYE!, as well as a vast body of psych rock, jazz, and chamber music all contribute to an aesthetic that dazzles the ears and entices the imagination. Marah-Mar recorded in the capable hands of Tucker Burns, a talented engineer whose sstudio built in an abandoned church provided the perfect atmosphere to capture the group's expansive sound. This is music that rewards the listener who can lost themselves in the epic sounds and the cinematic imagery that Marah-Mar skillfully creates." MP3 (80kr/€8.50)

Mass Movement Of The Moth returns with blast after contagious blast of synth-driven, psychedelic post-hardcore, while The Catalyst sludge through their latest offering of kerosene-soaked, in-your-face noise-punk/grunge. Song order switches from band to band allowing no side A or side B to keep the collective rock apart. ![]() MATT WAND - PUBLIC: EXE 10" (dekorder) "Mr. Wand was one half of plunderphonic duo Stock, Hausen & Walkman, now aka Small Rocks and head of the Hot Air label. Always interested in small electronic devices he began to incorporate Game Boys running the Nanoloop and Little Sound DJ software into his live sets a few years ago. First recorded results have been released on the "Nanoloop 1.0" compilation (Disco Bruit) and the "1 1/2 Volt Music" 3"CD on Hot Air (extracts from an infinite symphony for 12 self-propelled pocket game machines). After experiencing some of Mr. Wand's energetic armchair live sets during his tour with the Goodiepal and Nanoloop programmer Oliver Wittchow in Germany we proposed to release some of his live recordings and one year later we finally got the results. Played on Game Boys and few effect pedals only, these recordings were made in Manchester, Utrecht and at the Felix Kubin curated "Nuit Blanche" in Paris. While all the instruments are very small the sound defintely isn't. This is high energy electronic music reminding of early Suicide bootlegs (and sometimes causing a riot too) or Free Jazz played on handhelds. Not being your typical video game music record, it utilizes sounds you wouldn't really expect from a Game Boy. These tracks simply rock! Limited edition of 500!" MP3 (60kr/€6.50)

![]() MEF TEEF - IMPLIED BRAIN-FLEX TAPE (night people) "Debut transmission from this Iowa City based Free Music group. Rolling piano lines and crisp rhythmic drumming hold the backdrop for trumpet and saxophone spazz and howl. Before you know it everything breaks down into mush before instantly reforming into perfect hard-bop catchiness, swing cheesiness, or carnivalesque creepiness but only for a measure and then who knows what comes next." (50kr/€5.50)
![]() MERZBOW - MASCHINENSTIL CD-R (dual plover) "As far as I can tell, this is one of the last analog era releases and one of the first recorded at "Bedroom, Tokyo." Structurally, the two pieces here sound a lot like what Akita would go on to do with his powerbooks, but much harsher and significantly more organic than much of the often too rigid material of the digital era. The first track has some incredible high end and harsh droning waves of harsh noise, in some ways bringing to mind harsh power electronics, but this element of intense high end is coupled with psychadelic but insistent processed drum loops and tones. In other words, this is an album with some very harsh sounds, but it's not brutal from start to finish. At roughly 52 minutes, this album is a little short (for Merzbow), but still satisfying." (50kr/€5.50)
![]() MERZBOW & JOHN WIESE CD (misanthropic agenda) "An impressive display of both incredible composition and furious power from noise masterminds Masami Akita and John Wiese. Having both released significant work on Misanthropic Agenda, we are very proud to offer their premier collaborative album! Akita and Wiese pull no punches. No beats, no prog, no techno -- just pure delivery and satisfaction of electronic extremes." MP3 (100kr/€10.50)

![]() METH AND GOATS - ATTACK FROM METH AND GOATS MOUNTAIN CD (electric human project) "In a sea of shitty and overpackaged demo CDrs and lame as hell press kits complete with glossy promo shots, you can always find that diamond in the rough worth salvaging. For me that diamond was the midwest's Meth And Goats. I was already familiar with Meth And Goats from their split seven inch with Ten Grand, but haven't heard much from them since. After listening to some of their home recorded tracks on repeat all day I had to wonder why. After subsequent conversations with them about a possible release I knew I had to be involved with their debut full length. Meth And Goats prove that punk rock doesn't have to be overproduced and glossy on "Attack From Meth And Goats Mountain". They rip through 42 minutes worth of post-hardcore dirt-rock comparable to bands like Transistor Transistor, At The Drive In, and The Blood Brothers, but with an originality all of its own. Meth And Goats marry an art damaged punk sound with an absurd amount of spaced out jams, numbing feedback, and distorted screams that reeks of beer and body odor. Raw, rough around the edges, and catchy as sin." MP3 (90kr/€9.50)
![]() MICROWAVES - CONTAGION HEURISTIC CD (crucial blast) "In the anti-tradition of whitebread Bay Area thrash metal, the violent morass of New York no wave, and a familiarity with Ralph Records / THE RESIDENTS insanity, Microwaves draws from a palette that is somehow as wide as it seems limited. Spiked skronk-infested guitars spit tonality-impaired riffs like so much chaff from a surgically calibrated tree shredder, while a propulsive fretless bass assault is jammed through all manner of alien effects, often rendering it as more a bowel-rumbling presence than an actual instrument. The percussive cyborg clatter and MICROWAVE's paranoid dual vocal attack serve to further blast MICROWAVES' dystopian thrash into the outer void. The 5 piece all female ..punk.. band will defend the term with all their power because they are just that, an amazing Punk band, both in spirit and attitude. Pounding their way through interesting, fast, pop songs that leave you wondering how they pull the steam all the way through. Imagine a high school dance where Red Cross, Black Flag, X-Ray Spex, The Slits and The Germs are all playing at with an updated flare of excitement and anxiousness. That feeling you are thinking of is the feeling of Mika Miko and the sound you are imagining is only part of the equation that makes Mika Miko a local favorite in L.A. and everywhere else." ![]() MIKOTO CD (level plane) "The music business is fickle - bands come and go all the time. Orange County's Mikoto is one of the few bands that when they hit the stage for their very first performance, got immediately noticed. Formed in September 2004 by former members of legendary hardcore act Taken and Preacher Gone To Texas, Mikto runs the gamut of influences and refuses be confined to just one "label." Think Hope Conspiracy meets Thrice meets Strung Out. Mikoto plays music from their heart that transcends every scene from song to song. Ethereal music, crashing guitars, raw and melodic vocals – no one song on this EP define the bands’ sound but rather, encompasses it. Their live performances are packed with unyielding high energy reminiscent of Dillinger Escape Plan without the use of fire breathers. Expect big things from Mikoto in the next few months – although new on the scene – they’re filled with experience and talent." MP3 (70kr/€7.50)

Milemarker frontmen David Laney and Al Burian have created their most ambitious and innovative album to date. Guest appearances from Milemarker alumni Ben Davis (with a long list of others), and the fresh perspective of being on a new lable, are just a few of the things that set "ominosity" apart from Milemarker's already successful catalog". Eyeball is going all out with a full advertising campaign, marketing/press by Stunt Company and the Radiotakeover street team, full college radio service, a video. AP among others will be printing interviews of milemarker. The record was mastered by John Golden, pressed at RTI and the gatefold cover was printed by Ross Ellis." MP3 (100kr/€10.50)

Great pop, guitardriven soundscapes, melancholy and hope meets something that feels real. Electronic sounds and shoegaze guitarwalls cuddle. This is really good. Mixtapes & Cellmates are a young fresh band, who made their first successfull thrusts to awareness when they toured with KHONNOR around Scandinavia. Mixtapes & Cellmates have been compared to bands like My Bloody Valentine and The Radio Dept. But we feel that they have found themselves a very distinct and own sound. ![]() MONSTER DUDES 7" (breaking world) "The once father/son noise duo, Monster Dudes, grows at the same rate as Venec (the younger member) grows up. Now a 3 piece, Monster Dude's have ventured into some dance punk territory, with Venec leading the dance floor with party shout vocals, at a mere age 5, that give bands like Moving Units a run for their money. Still loving the antics of noise, but now feeling a little more focused (with noise skits abut bailing your son out of jail, etc), Monster Dudes will probably be as different every year as any child growing up is. And that's their magic. While most parent/child bands are all about the obsessive control of the parent, MD is all about helping your kid bring to life whatever they can imagine. A true testament to family love. MP3 (40kr/€4.50)
![]() MOUTHUS - SISTER VIBRATION LP (our mouth) "Brand new LP from Mouthus that might be their most devolved circumnavigation of rock from to date. The guitars are impossibly impacted, muffled sandpaper huffs that move in tectonic slugs while the drums shrug between boings of tone-pad squelch, electrified steel-band ceremonials and primitively executed power stomps. This kinda profound retro-futurist refusal lines em up with a buncha modernists like Chrome, TG and even live Mars but there’s something in the distant, hiccupping vocals and the generally manhandled atmosphere that sounds like a more drug-degraded take on the kinda hillbilly scorch that Alpo-era Cheater Slicks occasionally delivered on. If you like yr rock gasoline-damaged to the point of almost-intelligible, stick out your cans. MCIAA have gone from making dronescapes that were merely beautiful to listen to (merely!) to vast vistas of sound that seem to exert an almost gravitational pull into their depths. This opens with Roberto Opalio's parched vocal trances and the calming ching of Oriental bells and builds into a soporific sea of echoing guitar notes with bells rippling through it like a warm wind. For some reason, the line from "Astronomy Domine" about "the blue you once knew" comes to mind. The sound then appears to collapse in on itself before ebbing into freefall. ![]() MÖRSER - PURE SCUM LP (vendetta) "I don’t think the Germans of Mörser need an introduction. Their first 2 full lengths 2 Hours To Doom and 10.000 Bad Guys Dead became cult albums and since then they’ve built a steady fanbase worldwide. It’s been a while since they released something new though. In 2002 they released the mini cd Scum, the soundtrack for a comic with the same title. They were supposed to release another soundtrack for a comic called Pure but this release got postponed until it didn’t get released at all. This still has the trademark Mörser sound. It's heavy, mean, brutal and 100% metal and the two singers still grunt and scream like madmen. So nothing really changed since their last full length album 10.000 Bad Guys Dead. The new Pure songs have a better production than the old ones, which doesn't make them sound less brutal." MP3 (90kr/€9.50)

This is no doubt the best recorded and best sounding advanced-experimental music records I have laid ears on. Sharp, like a stiletto knife. Heavy, as a steel tank and spieced with ever changing tones and atmospheres. This is a document of the true power in sound and noise. In the hands of Mats Gustafsson, Dror Feiler and Lasse Marhaug sound and noise are getting vital again. Three true masters of the unknown terretories of their acoustic and electronic equipment. A modern power trio. This is the debut album by this new band. Yes! An important release on iDEAL. Maybe out most important one yet. For all the right reasons." MP3 (100kr/€10.50)

![]() THE NEW ALCHEMY - ORGANIC UNIVERSE CD (ideal) "Organic Universe is the second full length album of The New Alchemy; the sounding output for multi-faced artist Per Svensson, born in Gothenburg in 1965, now based in the beautiful south-west of Sweden. Svensson is comfortably moving between sound art and noise experiments, poetry, psych-rock, installation- and conceptual art. The borders are cloudy and unimportant. This is all as important to the world you are to know as The New Alchemy. Per Svensson was since the very early 80’s involved in the Gothenburg punk scene and bands like Rabies and also in the legendary society Garageligan. He has slowly created an artistic language of his own and since 1987 he is earning his living as an artist. Active in the circuit surrounding the Radium organisation he was inspired by people like CM von Hausswolff, Freddie Wadling, Jean-Louis Huhta and Leif Elggren. Soon – Svensson’s work was picked up by Elggren’s label Firework Editions which has been a very important base for his alchemical experiments in sound and image. Organic Universe is alchemic rock with an honest power. There’s a lot of nerve, and Svensson is allowing time to evolve the songs… There’s echoes of rock music from the 60’s and on. And echoes of mysticism, alchemy and occultism – colouring the music and the lyrics of course. Timeless music. But also simply, a fucking good rock album from The New Alchemy." MP3 (100kr/€10.50)

Track one - TNB with Thurston Moore - is a brooding death tone overlaid with grinding, scraping noises that become increasingly beast-like as the track progresses. Track two - TNB with Jim O'Rourke - is more subtle but equally as menacing. Manipulated white noise and radio waves collide head on at the two minute mark with some muffled, claustrophobic percussion, courtesey of Corsano. Short, sweet and tense as f**k. Recommended." A considerable amount of acid wit is also thrown into the songs, which have titles such as "give me your e-mail address, i'll send you some sick shit," "with an uzi and a 40oz," and "flying fuck for all." It's genius. Breathing new life - or is it lifelessness? - into some old chestnuts like I Got You Babe, You've Gotta Fight For Your Right To Party and a few that are a little different than I remember. Jailbreak becomes Tea Break and they seemed to have missed the point a little with songs like Too Sober To Fuck and Middle Class Man. ![]() NIELLERADE FALLIBILISTHORSTAR - HÅLRUM CD (snse) "The Swedish masters of dark brooding creep return with their second full-length album and first to be made available on vinyl. Hålrum continues in the tradition established on their debut, Hackelsekista (Total Holocaust Records, 2004,) and then surpasses that brilliant recording, stretching their sounds to lay down one fortyfive minute-long piece that encompasses all elements of NFH. Using found, homemade, and traditional instruments in a variety of settings (including many out-of-doors,) NFH creates music that is chaotic, ambient, and full of unease. Hålrum is the noise of rusted ghost armies. It is the sound of decayed and poisoned winds as they howl through forgotten chemical factories. It is aural dread. Vinyl: Edition of 300, full color printed LP jackets, 2-color printed poster. CD: Edition of 425, pro-printed on textured cardstock, clear jewel case, runs about 6 minutes longer than the LP and presents the work in its uninterupted entirety." MP3 (80kr/€8.50)

On Haraam, piles of mysterious old cassettes are used as source material to create magic in a stunning way over 42 moody minutes. Different audio fragments on top of each other, over and over again, hand-mixed and orchestrated at what feels like must have been ritualistic tape laborations taken place somewhere where the sun never shines. Various echoes from the past are buried under layers and layers of manipulated voices, train signals, animal sounds and god knows what. Abrupt endings which burns like fire in your head. Churches in flames, the soundtrack to The House With The Laughing Windows played backwards, alien autopsys, cemetery fog, devestation... The Brooklyn tape-manipulator conspiracy theorist (and full-time Vanishing Voice chief) has crafted similarly mystic audio-calligraphies for other visionary label undergrounders like Release the Bats and Fuck It Tapes but “Rigor Lore” is his first real novel-length outpouring. The A side walks through wondrous home recorded catacombs of dead machine murk and hieroglyphic mystery, murmuring million-year-old Masonic secrets to pharaoh ghosts, while the B terrain documents a series of his live rituals, which are equally occult and symbol-ridden. ![]() ONE INCH SHADOW - BIRTHDAY OF ANGELS AND MANNEQUINES CD (perun) "This is some seriously mysterious mojo, man. Never heard of the band before, which is hardly surprising, since they're apparently from Poland, and I haveonly Smolken from Dead Raven Choir to thank for the chance to grok it at all. Their sound is somewhere in the neighborhood of that smoky country death blues that the Black Heart Procession called their stomping grounds early on, just a few fields down from Current 93 and all the World Serpent bands. They're not too far removed from the Dead Raven Choir in terms of intent, in fact. But then their sound is so lush and ambient, so slow and droning, it calls to mind bands like Maeror Tri, Troum, Flying Saucer Attack, Godspeed You Black Emperor... all those droning soundtrack bands. The cd itself comes with four stiff inserts, all from a sinister medieval painting, with lyrics, notes, etc. on the back, completing a graceful and eerie experience with the appropriate graphics. I greatly approve. This is a brilliant cd, far too complicated and otherworldly to bother with yapping about "why" it is a dark work of genius - just trust me, it is and you want to hear it." ![]() OPEN CITY LP (thin wrist) "it's quite a loaded name to take on, but open city isn't basing itself on italian neorealist film nor on literary journal publications. beautifully packaged in a gatefold, hand silkscreened jacket, the record collects five free improv sessions by two guitarists who slide between droning feedback noise and abrasive strumming feedback noise. it's a wonderful squeal as the duo plays as much against themselves as they do each other. there's something about the murky depths of abstraction that only a properly distorted guitar can achieve. As with most lovingly created and assembled records this is limited to 500 copies." (90kr/€10)
![]() OPEN CITY - L.A WE REVISE YOUR NEGLECT LP (thin wrist) "a second official studio offering for open city (after a handful of semi-private releases), l.a. we revise your neglect goes straight to the point, title and music wise. the back of an insert reads: 'embarrassment is your privilege. refuse entertainment'. this trio chooses to perform challenging improvisation. in fact, peter kolovos (guitar), doug Russell (guitar) and andrew maxwell (drums) make it their mission to rock against the clock, beating rhythm to a corpse and shredding melody to pieces. the music seems to be strongly inspired by sonic youth, although stating that doesn't do it justice. yes, the electric guitars are noisy (extremely in 'penitence, that casino witch', an exception), but overall the trio approaches improvisation in a way closer to european free improvisers like derek bailey, keith rowe or (to name a single drummer) roger turner. they provocatively balance clarity of enunciation and textural/drone noise. maxwell's percussives are anything but rock-minded, making strong use of cymbals and precise gestures on the skins. 'dificult braver than music', 17 minutes long, offers a good range of ideas, making a point of dropping one whenever it becomes to comfy. 'engram sepals' plays games with the listener in a succession of false endings. this lp is packaged in an eye-catching sturdy gatefold sleeve and pressed on 180 gram vinyl — a beautiful production in all aspects. 4/5 stars." ![]() OPEN CITY - THE BIRTH OF CRUEL LP (thin wrist) "a gorgeous record of free sound: through three unsettled pieces, open city breaks down the formalism of the avant garde, noise and free improvisation to reveal one of today's most distinctive and intense group dynamics. the group use a constant flow of deep drone, pointilistic cut ups, rich texture and silence to create alpha music. unrepeatable and unpredictable, aggressively abstract, time-stamped, adaptive, actionist, attentionist, fun. an organic assembly language in an open field, avoiding the trance and repetition of idiomatic pop for sound statement and direct coinage. open city aims for a moment before music, the unsettled pause before a devastating blow. the birth of cruel is a generational x-flare, a sound proposition, a coronal mass ejection of propulsive and audible means. enjoy!" In search of the true audio essence of the golden era of the Italian horror, Oubliette here gives us Italian Gore! Filthy fragments from a range of the more trashy zombie flicks (Burial Ground and Zombi 3, 4, 5, anyone?). You may be to young to have been around in the days of the Video Nasties, banned home videos, Studio S and Strong Uncut VHS releases from Vipco but if you have the slightest interest in the Italian horror genre, you will get tears in your eyes when listening to this! This is all about the spirit of being 14 all over again and the excitement of watching Giovanni Lombardo Radice being drilled in the head in City Of The Living Dead for the first time or dropping your jaw to the ending in Nightmare City, or scoring an uncut copy of Anthropophagous, or trying to figure out what the hell is going on in a foggy VHS-dub of A Lizard In A Womans Skin, or... ![]() OVERMARS - AFFLICTION, ENDOCRINE... VERTIGO 2xLP (alchimia) "It’s hard to believe OVERMARS once was a side-project to DONEFOR. At the time, DONEFOR was slowly dying before our eyes, and most of us secretly hoped they’d call it quits so that OVERMARS could finally grow genius. Cause Overmars has been one of those “promising bands” since the very beginning. Even at their roughest and less sophisticated. The first handful of shows they played already had this insane magnetic vibe they later mastered. But hey, it’d be way too easy for me to romanticize their story, and tell you a whole bunch of seductive lies about the “unchallenged heydays of the early Overmars” as I was part of the band for a short period of time in 2003. Those of you who met these guys face to face have probably been amazed by the unfathomable gap lying between their everyday good-heartedness and their darker-than-thou sonic barrage. Overmars draws a line that goes from thwarted philanthropy to assumed misanthropy. And I like that. ‘‘Affliction, endocrine... vertigo’’ shows a band with an unshakable will to offer the best of themselves, an all-time generosity they just can’t hide away. A multi-layered record wrong-footing its audience (How many records built on crescendo ? And how many bands to do exactly the opposite ?), an album that will surprise those who were waiting for an increase In greasy violence and who’ll sink their teeth on an amazingly quiet (not you run-of-the-mill “quiet”, rest assured) piece of wax instead. Starting with full-force velocity, ‘‘Affliction, endocrine... vertigo’’ knows no cruising speed and sinks in swamps of confusion from the third track on. Punctuated by five amazing segues (‘‘Destroy all dreamers’’) and tracks broadening their war fields (the goth-like ‘‘Buccolision’’ revealing all the intensity Marion now brings to the band), ‘‘Affliction, endocrine... vertigo’’ is a demanding record. For Overmars as much as for those on the other side of the speakers. Is such an achievement that surprising ? Well, yes. And no. Lotsa hard work and a natural evolution. From their very first record (a split album with DONEFOR released in March of 2002) to their latest (a split album with Japan’s FUGUE, recorded a year later), after so many days and weeks on the road through Europe, Overmars now fully masters a work scheme based on “serene soaking”. No futile hurries, no run after a mandatory first album like most of those young bands lacking in experience who’ll inevitably fail in the end, a will to go beyond the limits any scene or style can set (sharing writings, Arno’s video work, drawings, pictures, etc. on their website or on the DVD coming with the album). ‘‘Affliction, endocrine... vertigo’’ appears as ‘‘vortex-record’’, the epicentre of an experience in creation by a band generously offering their guts on a plate. They’re now yours to embrace (or not)." MP3 (130kr/€14)

It combines the sweet soul of soaring pop vocals with the dark forces of death metal guitar solos and choppy rhythmic clatter. it is an epic orgy of evil themes and narcodelic beauty! ![]() PHILIP SAMARTZIS - SOFT AND LOUD LP (plates of sound) "Deluxe U.S. vinyl version of an obscure Australian CD release by Samartzis. Luxurious quality production all around, #'d edition of 500 copies. 'Dr. Philip Samartzis, a senior lecturer and coordinator of sound at RMIT in Australia, is not a novice to the experimental music scene. He was one of the founding members of the Australian avant-turntable/noise group Gum in the '80s, and has since been composing abstract electronic music, w/ previous releases on Synaesthesia, Dorobo, Staalplaat, and For4Ears. Samartzis' Soft and Loud is a modern day exploration of Japan's culture and identity through the guise of modern day musique concrete. Soft and Loud was conceived in the winter of 1999 in Tokyo, Japan and meticulously completed in Melbourne, Australia in August 2003, using specifically derived field recordings (that Philip had recorded) from Japan that detail the daily existence of many of its people. The digitally altered sounds of the Japanese subway system, electronic bird calls, the mournful calling of a chestnut salesman, to the digital wash of a Japanese stream cohesively offers a sense of serenity, and calmness as well as the loud, busy and chaotic nature of a country that appears often reserved and guarded. We, the listeners, become voyeurs to the country and experience the key characteristics of Japan that defines itself as a country." MP3 (70kr/€7.50)

Fans of this band's previous efforts and new fans alike are bound to view this as their best work to date, as well as their most vehement. In an age where too few bands are saying anything worth hearing, this album is more 10 tracks of blistering music; it's also a grand calling out of pretty much the entire human race. With this work, Francisco Meirino explores the tension between emptiness (the attempts #1 to #4) and fullness (the noise parts). ![]() PINK RAZORS - WAITING TO WASH UP CD (robotic empire) "Rebuilding pop-punk from the ground up is by no means an easy task, but Richmond, VA's PINK RAZORS have boiled down the genre into its purest elements and improved upon it leaps and bounds. With no song crossing the two-minute mark, each track is packed with memorable melodies over fast, powerhouse rhythms. This all happens so fast you barely know what hit you, but still manage to get the songs firmly stuck inside your head. Sometimes snotty, sometimes dark, yet always up-tempo and immensely catchy, "Waiting to Wash Up" will have you singing along to desperate, cynical, and hopeful songs alike. ![]() PLATEAU - 1985-1988 CD-R (jyrk) "Uncle JYRK aka Rocket aka Robert Horton has been one of the busiest jammers in the freak scene in the last few years... no small fact especially since the dude just had his 50th birthday! A great, ripe age to drop in on the experimental music world.. Actually.. Robert's been up to tons of trouble for FOREVER.. He's the best.. always stoked and always adventureous.. Since Robert's been more active, he's been going thru his old vaults of recordings and reissuing various things... Plateau is possibly the most important of all his archival releases. Robert had been involved in the whole Subterranean post-punk anarchy mess in this group, The Appliances... This was back when Flipper was just getting going well.. long story short... the appliances broke up, some other things happened and Rocket started working on these compositions with some buddies that were inspired by folks like Lamonte Young and Tony Conrad... So.. these post-punk instrument inventor minimalist freaks got down to some SERIOUS drones in 1985.. this stuff touches on all the classic minimalist recordings and predicts future freak-folkist zone outs.. It's totally mind-blowing that these actions were happening when I was 6.. he's to the UNC! CHEERS! Edition of 150." (60kr/€6.50)

Recorded in Bushwick, New York City - it's an intense trip into harsh noise and electronic sickness. Prurient is Dominick Fernow who is operating the Hospital Productions label and shop out of a basement in New York. His albums 'Black Vase' and the latest 'Pleasure Ground' for Load Records are both highly recommended and loved. PULSE EMITTER - MOUNTAIN CD-R (audiobot) "Pulse Emitter captures natural and electronic phenomena. which interface with a hand built modular synth as a source of control voltage. Sparse synth drone composition that erases all active knowledge of time and space from your mind. Leaving you numb in a bleak void of throbbing pulse grit. Like being frozen into the core of a misty mountain. no heartbeat or emotion. just pure generated waves of emptyness. Mountain was adjusted in strength and frequency to be a viable base defense. Packaged in demented anti-minimal full color fold-out covers by Jelle Crama & Godrapist. in an edition of only 80 copies. Classify under: alien synth psych." (60kr/€6.50)

![]() QUILTS - LIGHT HORN TAPE (arbor) "Shimmer shining strips of sound float through the sky. The light horn is calling. Organ sprawls covered in pit-er-pat percussion. This is the kind of music that you create in your head when you are sitting on the park bench and rearranging the memories of the sounds going around you. Except it is better and it is recorded. Earth drones make dreamy lullabies. These dudes have releases coming out all over the place including a split tape with Quintana Roo on Dnt, as well as a recent release on a new incarnation of imvated, cauliflower dreams. Limited to 50 numbered copies with orient smoke dream art on jade tapes." (45kr/€5)
![]() QUINTANA ROO/QUILTS - WHITE BONE SNAKE TAPE (dnt) "Two Q-band units panhandle for spirit contact. Quintana Roo unearth another pit of holy bones and Aztec ash, classic "rumbling tombs" style drone-spelunking with post-straight edge summertime Josh Feola guesting on the drum throne. Communal seance zoning. Quilts' "Pink Hotel" rents a room/suite of space heater fuzz fog and falls asleep. Enough muffled murk-moans and endless echo to earn lucrative sponsorship from at least 4 of the 5 major US delay pedal companies. Heavy WARMTH. With fucked-up-and-photocopied covers of burial dirt. Hand-numbered edition of 100." (40kr/€4.50)
