UTON BIOGRAPHY Uton is the one-man project of Jani Hirvonen, hailing from Tampere, Finland. Hirvonen is one of the most active musicians of the finnish underground scene that has recently presented us the likes of Kuupuu, Kemialliset Ystävät, Islaja, Paavoharju and Lau Nau and a seemingly never-ending stream of beautiful and highly original record releases. The Music fo Uton is no exception there, drawing inspirations from psychedelia to free jazz to pure ecstatic drones and noises using a wide range of acoustic instruments from various parts of the globe and a bulk of electronics. Recorded in glorious lo-fi the mystery of Hirvonen's sound is difficult to pinpoint; sheer ravishing beauty, elegancy and variegation is stashed behind a wall of grey, inscrutable haze - gorgeous melodies and voices, reeds and alien sounds gleaming through the mist from time to time, shimmering like diamonds through layers of dust. Uton has previously released dozen of CD's, CDR's and cassettes on a myriad of labels including Jewelled Antler, Pseudo Arcana, Last Visible Dog, Digitalis and his own Ikuisuus. ANTONY MILTON BIOGRAPHY New Zealander Antony Milton has been making records, exhibiting sound installations and performing live under various nom de plumes (A.M, The Nether Dawn, Paintings of Windows, Mrtyu etc) since the early 1990s. He is also the curator of the PseudoArcana record label. A recurring theme in Milton's work is an investigation of 'place' and 'presence' and the ways in which these function within the representational realm of recorded sound. With releases on underground labels such as Jewelled Antler, Last Visible Dog and Celebrate Psi Phenomenon Milton's work is situated at some weird junction between electroacoustic composition, folk music, and the more psychedelic end of the 'noise' spectrum... Using predominantly analogue sources (tape loops, field recordings, amplified resonant objects, voice and guitar) Milton's performances have a high degree of intimacy and commonly range from the gestural and nuanced through to the visceral and ecstatic.
